About Sarvodaya Residence for the Seniors

A free Senior Citizens' Home for 50 elderly women in Tirupati — a project of Sarvodaya Women Welfare Society, sponsored by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment (MSJE), Government of India.

Who We Are

Sarvodaya Women Welfare Society is a registered non-governmental organization working for the welfare and rehabilitation of underprivileged senior women. We believe that every elderly woman — regardless of her background or circumstances — deserves to live her later years in safety, dignity and warmth.

Our flagship project, Sarvodaya Residence for the Seniors, is a free Senior Citizens' Home in Tirupati that provides shelter, food, medical care and companionship to 50 elderly women. The project is implemented under the Government of India's Scheme for Welfare of Senior Citizens, sponsored by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment (MSJE).

About the MSJE Scheme

A flagship welfare scheme of the Government of India.

The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment (MSJE), Government of India, runs the Integrated Programme for Senior Citizens (IPSrC) — under which financial assistance is provided to eligible NGOs to run and maintain Senior Citizens' Homes, Continuous Care Homes and Mobile Medicare Units.

Under this scheme, Sarvodaya Women Welfare Society operates Sarvodaya Residence for the Seniors, a 50-bed home for elderly women. Residents are provided shelter, food, clothing, healthcare, recreation and emotional support — free of cost.
